Owen Pallett has released a surprise new album. It’s called Island, and he recorded it at Abbey Road Studios with the London Contemporary Orchestra. That’s it below.
Pallett’s last album was 2014’s In Conflict, which featured contributions from Brian Eno. Since then, he’s appeared on other projects by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sigur Rós, and Daphni. He also scored the new documentary Spaceship Earth, the soundtrack for which is also out today (May 22).
In 2018, it was reported that Pallett had settled a defamation lawsuit against a woman who accused him of sexual assault. In a joint statement issued to Pitchfork after the settlement, the pair said, “We have apologized, and forgiven each other for our respective actions and statements.”
Editor’s Note: Owen Pallett wrote an album review for Pitchfork in 2017.
