If you want to know what a wild night out in Las Vegas with The Weeknd might be like, look no further than the new lyric video for the singer’s “Heartless.” In the vertical clip that dropped on Monday (Dec. 2) director Joachim Johnson gives viewers that woozy, way-too-late-night-out feeling that the song’s lyrics capture by swirling the camera through the city’s bright lights, creating neon tracer trails for days.
Wearing a red suit and oversized glasses, Abel shoots craps, smokes cigs, hangs with his crew and takes in the sights during a trippy evening that ends in a blur of colors and shapes. “Heartless” was the singer’s first new music since the March 2018 EP My Dear Melancholy and his 2016 full-length LP Starboy.
There is also apparently more music on the way. Last week the singer posted a message on Twitter which explained he’s in “album mode full effect.” Since that post, the Toronto native has dropped the tune “Blinding Lights” in a Mercedes-Benz commercial and announced that he is a “creative director” of the car brand’s “Enjoy Electric” campaign.
